Join us for a dynamic conversation about representation, democracy and the undeniable political power of women, communities of color and young people. The fight for American democracy is at a crossroads. It has never been more important to elect leaders who share and reflect the lived experiences of the growing New American Majority — a multi-racial, multi-ethnic, multi-generational coalition of Americans who represent the changing face of America. The New American Majority is reimagining what leadership looks like.
During a time when America is literally burning, as Black communities mourn the impacts of white supremacy and racially motivated violence, a conversation about what effective leadership looks like has never been more relevant. This moment underscores how essential the “everyday organizer” is. Across the country women, especially women of color, are showing up and leading.
AND SHE COULD BE NEXT is the story of a defiant movement of women of color, transforming politics from the ground up. The event will also feature scenes from this groundbreaking new docuseries from POV/PBS. The series follows candidates and organizers across the country, asking whether democracy itself can be preserved—and made stronger—by those most marginalized.
AND SHE COULD BE NEXT is the first docuseries from POV on PBS. And She Could Be Next is directed by Peabody Award-winner Grace Lee (American Revolutionary: The Evolution of Grace Lee Boggs) and Iranian documentary filmmaker Marjan Safinia (Seeds). Emmy and Peabody winner Ava DuVernay (13th; When They See Us) is executive producer.
